Some would say that Jake and I are crazy to spend 43 hours in the van with young children for 8 days...but, nay, that is called fun in our Katzenberger house! Don't get me wrong, there were some tantrums but fewer than expected, and one of those tantrums might have been from me toward the end of the trip. ; )
We are actually really glad that we drove to Savannah instead of flying. Not just because it is WAY cheaper, but also because we made the trip fun by stopping to enjoy the sites and states.
Day One: So we left our Kansas home early on May 26th and headed for our first night in Nashville, TN.
Pit stop ~ St. Louis Zoo. Here are some pictures.
Day Two: May 27th Nashville, TN to Savannah, GA where we were going to have a much-needed family reunion. Pit Stop ~ Atlanta Aquarium in Atlanta, GA
Finally, we arrived at our our dear family's house! I LOVED the Savannha area, and their house fit the southern theme complete with the white rocking chairs on the porch. Four families stayed in this house (14 people altogether) for 3 days and 4 nights! It was so nice to bring the family together again!
Day Three: We spent the day with the whole family at TyVee Island. My favorite spot on the trip. Beautiful beach and weather! The water was actually fairly warm, but our youngest wasn't so sure of the ocean. That evening, the family held a surprise baby shower for my sister-in-law and I since we are due six weeks apart, each with a boy! That meant so much to me, we have such a wonderful family! This is my sister-in-law's first child - how exciting!
